The Portland, Oregon-based Pink Martini band has played at events ranging from the Cannes Film Festival to the opening party of the New York Museum of Modern Art. Part French chanson, Argentine tango and soft merengue with a dash of low-lit jazz lounge, Pink Martini is the 1994 brainchild of Harvard graduate and classically trained pianist, Thomas M. Lauderdale and classmate China Forbes, songwriter and guitarist. With a multilingual repertoire, Pink Martini has blossomed from a quintet into a suave salon orchestra equally at home on concert stages and in smoky clubs. Pink Martini currently has three albums recorded, 1997’s “Sympathique,” 2004’s “Hang on Little Tomato,” and their latest, 2007’s “Hey Eugene.”

Pink Martini’s performance at the inauguration of Miami Pops is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and WDNA 88.9 Serious Jazz and presented by CAF in partnership with The Rhythm Foundation.
